In my latest blog post, "Embracing Self Acceptance: A journey beyond self-love," we delved into the significance of accepting ourselves for who we are, as a pivotal step towards breaking free from the shackles that may be hindering our progress. But what about the baggage we carry with us? How does it affect our journey towards self-acceptance?
Guilt, for instance, is a common fragment of our ego that many of us carry around. It's that nagging feeling that we could have handled situations better. But how do we navigate through these repetitive ego fragments that weigh us down?

Total Meditation by Deepak Chopra:

In his book "Total Meditation," Deepak Chopra sheds light on this subject, highlighting how our minds tend to replay past experiences, dwelling on actions or decisions we wish we could change. These repetitive thoughts and impulses become ingrained within us, shaping our ego personality. But is there a way to break free from this cycle?

Personal Experience:
Through my own meditation practices, I've discovered a path towards cleansing these burdens from my consciousness. By incorporating simple morning and evening routines, and pausing to address moments of tension or anxiety, I've begun to shift my perspective on past events. Rather than dwelling on them, I've learned to acknowledge their presence and gently guide my attention elsewhere.
One technique involves recognising these memories, emotions, or feelings as they arise and actively engaging with them. Instead of allowing them to consume us, we can assertively say, "I don’t need you right now." This simple act of redirecting our focus helps to disrupt the cycle of repetitive thoughts, gradually diminishing their hold over us.
Be proactive:

Deepak Chopra refers to this process as becoming "unstuck." It's a gradual journey of rewiring our narrative and disentangling ourselves from the grip of past experiences. While it may take time to unravel the layers of our ego, the realisation that we hold the power to change our narrative is empowering.
As you reflect on your own journey towards self-acceptance, consider the following questions:
  • What repetitive ego fragments do I frequently encounter in my thoughts?
  • How do these fragments influence my behaviour and emotions?
  • Am I willing to embrace techniques, such as meditation, to address and alleviate these burdens?
  • What small steps can I take to shift my perspective and break free from the cycle of repetitive thoughts?
  • How might cultivating self-acceptance enhance my overall well-being and sense of fulfilment?
Embracing self-acceptance is not just about loving ourselves; it's about actively engaging in practices that will lessen the impact these fragments of our ego have on who we are, allowing us to grow and embrace new opportunities and form new meaningful relationships with others…and yourself.

 CALL TO ACTION
As I continue to explore and share my experiences, I invite you to delve into your own mind and work towards lessening the impact that these repetitive thoughts can have on who we are.
  • Start by understanding that the repetitive thought you experience are not a permanent fixture in your mind
  • When these thoughts arrive, treat them with respect and don't fight them or try to hide them away.
  • Find a routine that works and stick to it. This could be talking to the thought explaining that this i snot needed right now, stop and breathe, count backwards from 100 in 3's, write down how you are feeling to give the thought a way out of your body.
  • Explore our blogs and see if you can discover a way of consciously working with your mind rather than against it. Maybe a morning routine could help kick start you day in the right way.
